SupervisionAlongside the work I do in counselling and coaching, I also offer supervision services.
My counselling training was at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where I qualified in 2008, and I've been in private counselling practice since then and supervising for 3 years. I have a Certificate in Creative Supervision and am on the Edinburgh University approved list of independent supervisors.
From my previous professional life as a freelance training consultant, coach and mentor, I hold a Post Grad Diploma in Learning and Development and a Certificate in Stress Management.
My main approach is person-centred but I am experienced at working with and supporting counsellors from other modalities.
Several factors influenced my decision to become a supervisor, including my 20 years experience of mentoring people through career and personal development transitions, and my experience of supervising volunteer employability mentors for a third sector project.
During my counselling training I found the support and insights of my supervisor invaluable; her knowledge, skills, non judgement, and her ability to provide a safe place for me to make mistakes, learn and grow was an integral part of my journey. I still work with her today, and this relationship is an intrinsic part of my professional life.
To help you decide if I'm the right supervisor for you I offer a free half an hour meeting, either face to face or by Skype.
Support and Supervision
I also offer support and supervision for those within the caring profession, such as social workers, teachers, health workers or those working within the charitable sector.
Often I find that those working in vocational jobs haven't always had access to quality support and supervision, which can have negative effects on their health and wellbeing. If you feel this is the case with you in your work, I can help by offering you effective and confidential support and supervision. Typically lasting an hour, usually on a monthly or six weekly basis. I also offer to facilitate small supervision groups.
Support and supervision offers a safe place to discuss work and its challenges, and use the session to reflectively learn and develop.
